This year’s line up for the Glanbia Sports Talk, a panel discussion hosted by WLR FM’s
Kieran O’Connor, is one to savour. This is an event for everyone whether you’re a
budding sports enthusiast, or a keen athlete or perhaps just looking to get a little fitter.
This year’s panel includes Derek McGrath, former manager of the Waterford Senior Hurling
team, who will discuss pre-match preparations, and how to get in the right mind set . Also on the
panel is Gary Walsh, from Waterford Warriors, an expert in strength and conditioning. “No
matter what level you start at, it’s the level you go to that counts”, says Gary, who will also talk
about cardio fitness, weight loss, core strength and posture correction.
Another panellist is Arthur Dunne, a sports scientist and performance nutritionist with Leinster
Rugby Academy and FoodFlicker GAA Performance Nutritionist. Arthur holds a Masters in
Applied Sports Nutrition and has also acted as Performance Nutritionist to the Cork Senior
Football team and the Dublin Under 21 GAA Team.
The final panellist is Cian Foley, who will speak about his personal journey from being unfit and
overweight to becoming a national kettlebell champion. He’ll also focus on his diet, and the
concepts outlined in his book “Don’t Eat for Winter”.
